Read for the Cure® is a site that brings magazine shoppers great deals on products while working to benefit the fight against breast cancer. A percentage of all sales on the site are donated to Susan G. Komen for the Cure®. We interviewed Nina Brownstone, online marketing manager at Read for the Cure®. She talks about the “ins and outs” of the site.
“We’ve teamed up with the world’s leading magazine publishers, including Meredith, Conde Nast, Hearst, Time Inc., and many others to provide our readers with great deals on magazine subscriptions. Many of the subscriptions are ten dollars or less, with no shipping fee,” she said. “We donate twenty percent of every sale to Susan G. Komen®. We have recently expanded our product line to now include a scarf designed by Elizabeth Gillett, a breast cancer survivor and NYC-based fashion designer. Twenty percent of all scarf sales are also donated to Komen.”
Fight Breast Cancer with an App
Brownstone further explained that last year during breast cancer awareness month, they launched an app for iPhones and iPads that allows users to access favorite magazines on the go. The Read for the Cure® app makes it even easier to read your favorite magazine and participate in breast cancer fundraising efforts.
“When you download the app you can choose a free issue of your favorite magazine. If you subscribe to the app, you can get access to any three magazines, plus all available back issues, at a time for $7.99 a month.” She said. “Again, twenty percent of the app subscription price is donated to Komen. In our most recent app update we’ve added news feeds from Read for the Cure® and Susan G. Komen®, which provide our readers with breast cancer news, information, and resources, as well as healthy recipes, workout tips, and other valuable information.”
“We are in the midst of adding new products to our site and expect to have more great deals on other products for our customers by summer 2016,” Brownstone said.
