We are pleased to welcome Carrie Riccobono, MSN, RN, ACNS-BC, OCN our newest addition to the I’m Taking Charge Advisory Board. Carrie Riccobono brings to us the ability to delve deeper into breast cancer and breast reconstruction issues from the unique perspective of an oncology nurse and patient advocate.
She is fiercely committed to the development and implementation of quality patient care and advocacy education. Throughout her 21 year career she has specialized in oncology nursing, spending the last 10 years focused on breast and GYN cancers, prevention, treatment and access to care. Her expertise in health policy advocacy emphasizes provider standards and empowering patients to gain stronger competencies in their own healthcare.
She is involved on a national and local level in several nursing associations and advisory boards, and as a nationally recognized speaker on patient access, advocacy, and distress management. She is the past president of the Southeastern Wisconsin Oncology Nursing Society, Board member of the Wisconsin Breast Cancer Coalition, and a longstanding health policy committee member with the Wisconsin Cancer Control Program. Ms. Riccobono’s is committed to professional leadership and outspoken advocacy for women with breast cancer.
